Fight That "Tired All The Time" Feeling

  1. Eating habits - We may not be getting the calories we need to keep our energy up. It’s best to follow a regular schedule of healthy meals. But, if that’s not possible, healthy snacks can boost energy when we feel sluggish. Try munching on bananas, peanut butter, whole-grain crackers, protein bars, dried fruit, and nuts.

  2. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies - Having low levels of vitamin D, B-12, iron, magnesium, or potassium can cause us to feel tired even after a nice long nap. Routine blood tests can help identify deficiencies, and most can be corrected by taking supplements or eating foods that are rich in the vitamin or mineral we’re missing.

  3. A sedentary lifestyle- It may seem illogical, but prolonged inactivity can keep us feeling fatigued and sleepy. Regular physical activity can boost energy levels and offer a number of other health benefits.

A few other culprits that might be causing us to feel drained are lack of sleep, stress, depression, or new medications. Feeling tired all the time can often be addressed with lifestyle changes, but if we continue to feel incessantly exhausted after trying a number of lifestyle changes, it’s a good idea to see a doctor.
